SUTS Integrated Jail Treatment Program (STEP Program)

The SUTS transition team is comprised of clinical professionals who work with Custody Health staff and clients inside the jails to support transitions from jail to the community. The services include three elements: 1) in-custody substance abuse services, 2) case management services (in and out of custody) to support transition to treatment and the community, and 3) outpatient services for inmates discharge from custody.

The team assists clients with linkages to providers, arranges appointments, secures medication, and ensures “warm handoffs” to the community. The program will also facilitate speedy access to the newly expanded outpatient and transitional housing slots.

Eligibility and Referral Process

Potential Clients with substance abuse issues are identified by Custody Health staff or Rehabilitation Officers to voluntarily participate in the program.

Carry the Vision

Carry the Vision’s RESTORE program offers clients life skills, tools, and direct experiences to practice increasing their self-awareness, self-discipline, and self-motivation. Through this, they will be better able to make life choices directed from an internal place of knowing, preparing them for long-term success in the community. The curriculum is an evidence-based life skills program, teaching self-reflection, self-awareness, emotional and behavioral self-regulation, pro-social skills, and stress reduction skills. Transformative tools, including meditation, mindfulness, dialogue circles, yoga, body movement, journaling, creative expression, and other practical life skill techniques, are used in 6-12 week series of inspirational, highly interactive, and experiential courses resulting in positive cognitive-behavioral change. RESTORE is offered in-custody and in the community.

Eligibility and Referral Process

Clients must be incarcerated at County Correctional Facilities. For sessions held in the community, eligible clients may receive a referral through the Reentry Resource Center (RRC).
